The Granite 5000 system starts with a great HD switcher.
Video and Files
Mul-Denon SDI: Each SDI input and output can be individually set to 1080i, 720p or SD, to mix and
match I/O. Just aach a cable and Granite auto-detects the format and the indicator light tells what format
is connected. Connect both genlocked and asynchronous sources. One SDI input can be a cut signal from an
external CG or other device with key. The SDI outputs can be: program, preview, ME1 program, ME1
preview, clean feed, auxiliary of external sources, or a PowerAux to output any source including the built-in
clip or graphics store and add keys to it. Standard SDI I/O is 11 inputs and 6 outputs, which expands to 22
inputs and 12 outputs with the second I/O board on the 5000+ model.
Files: Granite features a revoluonary way to provide inputs of clip and graphic les. A high speed PCI
Express cable es together the Granite Switcher and Server. Seven channels of clips and graphics, with
key, simultaneously ow through it, which would need 14 BNCs on a convenonal switcher.
DVI: Two DVI outputs are great for sending 720p or 1080i to a projector or DVI/HDMI monitor.
The DVI outputs use standard HDMI cables, or oponal locking cable available from Broadcast Pix.
AutoAspect: Granite solves the many challenges of mixing 4:3 and 16:9 content by maintaining the nave
aspect rao of each element, while convenonal switchers stretch video when crossing aspect raos,
causing people to look too wide. With AutoAspect you can use a mixture of 16:9 and 4:3 inputs, and each
input, output, clip les and graphic les can be set to one of 4 aspect treatments: box, crop, 14:9 or none.
Prisne Keys
6 keyers are included which are accessible from either M/E. They have sharp clear edges and are very easy
to ll thanks to Granite’s ghtly integrated graphic and clip systems. Four keyers are full funcon with a DVE
which can be squeezed into a picture-in-picture, and own in. The other two are for graphics. The content
of each keyer is shown on a PixBuon and on the Mul-View, so you always know what is on each. One full
funcon keyer can be lled with an external video and key input. A standard chromakey for green and blue
wall sets and luma keys are also supported. Combine mulple chromakeys (opon 140) with the graphic
stores for virtual sets.
Exceponally Low Delay for Live Events
Exceponally low constant delay make Granite ideal for live events. Granite features a low delay of just one
frame, which is only 33ms (40 ms at 50Hz in “PAL”) with genlocked cameras. Other soluons typically have
variable delay where delay is added when performing many funcons, such as converng an input format,
converng an output format, converng an aspect rao, creang an eect like picture-in-picture, or adding
clips or graphics. Granite only adds an addional frame when, like convenonal switchers, either an
asynchronous input is used or when re-entering one M/E into the other.
